Laurie Potter, MA, RCC

Registered Clinical Counsellor

As a Registered Clinical Counsellor and Creative Arts Therapist, my main goal is to be present with you and support your innate capacity for healing. As a somatic-based practitioner, I support clients to connect with the wisdom of their body and their creativity within the counselling space to help manage stress, trauma and mental health challenges. I see therapeutic work as a collaboration, where you can feel empowered as an active partner in your process, while building upon your strengths, resources and resiliency from the start.

My approach is trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, based in attachment and mindful self-compassion. I draw from training in various modalities, including Somatic Experiencing, Creative Art Therapy, mindfulness, art & play to support each client's unique needs. With over ten years experience working as a therapist and counsellor, I have had the privilege of supporting children, youth, adults and elders in community-based settings, private practice and remote rural communities. As a parent of a young child myself, I have a special interest in supporting the mental wellness of parents in the perinatal period.

Reaching out for therapeutic support can be a vulnerable process. It is important to find the right therapist/counsellor to support the healing process. To see if we might be a good fit, I offer clients a 15 minutes phone or zoom session. I look forward to connecting with you.
